Making the cut
With an innovative clipper trimmer, Göppingen-based Trauwert GmbH is making things happen in the manufacture of brushes and brooms. If they are to serve their purpose in the best way possible, brushes and brooms must be cut accurately and precisely. And the best cutting tool for this job is supplied by Trauwert GmbH, a young, up-and-coming company based in Göppingen: An innovative roller-bearing-mounted clipper trimmer which significantly outperforms conventional trimmers both in terms of cutting quality and service life. This clipper trimmer, which was developed by proprietors Simon Siewert and Jürgen Traub, were on show for the first time at the Interbrush trade fair in Freiburg (from 9th to 12th May 2012).
Among the disadvantages of conventional trimmers is the fact that mechanical friction leads to the generation of heat and an increased level of wear. This reduces the service life of a cutting tool that works in a similar way to a razor, and means that the shearing blades have to be replaced frequently. And this is where the invention and development from Simon Siewert and Jürgen Traub come into play: Thanks to the high-precision roller-bearing-mounted linear bearing, the Trauwert clipper trimmer works at zero-clearance and does not cause any mechanical wear on the shearing blades. Since the shearing blades do not have any direct contact with each other, they do not generate any heat – thus eliminating thermal distortion. This not only results in a constant level of top-class cutting quality, but it also leads to an extremely long service life for the brush manufacturing machine.
The Trauwert clipper trimmer is virtually maintenance-free, requires no adjustment work and works extremely smoothly and quietly. It is ideal for high speeds and long strokes, is available in several widths (100, 150 and 200 millimetres plus toothing), and can be reground several times. Thanks to its service life being well above average, the roller-bearing-mounted clipper trimmer contributes towards rationalisation and cost savings in the brush and broom industry.
In 2001, the two owners of the company, Simon Siewert and Jürgen Traub, met in Göppingen at their former employer's company, the internationally renowned grinding technology manufacturer Jung. There, they had been working with roller bearings in machine axles and complex, high-precision component assembly. Jürgen Traub, a skilled toolmaker, was also responsible for the high-precision grinding of machine bearings. In the meantime, Simon Siewert, an industrial mechanic, moved to a new job to take care of the assembly and setting of the bristle-fastening machines for the world-famous Mink brush manufacturing company in Göppingen. And it was in this role that he became aware of the problems with conventional cutting tools.
In 2009, Simon Siewert and Jürgen Traub then combined their professional experience and established their own company – Trauwert GmbH. One of the cornerstones of this company was the invention and development of their innovative clipper trimmer. But their range also covers highly accurate, micro-precision grinding and services in surface and profile grinding technology. Together, these two Swabians place high standards on quality, precision and the right expertise. With their roller-bearing-mounted clipper trimmer, they have proven that Swabian ingenuity is also making waves in the world of brushes.

Since, thanks to the roller bearing mounting, the shear blades on the Trauwert clipper trimmer do not have any direct mechanical contact, the trimmer does not become worn during idle periods, does not generate heat and requires very little maintenance. The innovative clipper trimmer allows for an extremely long service life and, thanks to this service life being well above average, it contributes towards cost savings in the manufacture of brushes and brooms.
